It is part of tradition that the father of the bride, as well as the father of the groom, delivers a short wedding speech during the wedding reception. You have to remember that your speech should include words of thanks for all the people who are present and who shared that wonderful day with the bride and the groom. You may say something along these lines “Good evening, family, relatives, and friends! Not all of you may recognize this old face, and so I would like to briefly introduce myself. I am, for those of you who do not know me, the father of the groom. Well, on behalf of the newly weds, I would like to welcome you all in this celebration.”
“I would also like to thank you for taking the time to join us here as we witness my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding. Some of you have even travelled a long time just to be here. Please know that your efforts and generosity have been appreciated.”
